Thomas Byers Guitar Studio was established in 2011 in Flagstaff, Arizona and has grown from a small music shop studio to an authority in guitar education in the classroom, privately, and now- on the web.
I was commissioned to re-create the TBGS website from the ground up. In order to breathe new life into an existing brand, I implemented a learning and e-commerce system that allows Thomas and his team of instructors to teach students remotely over the web using the same WordPress backend they were already familiar with on their previous website.
The site uses a warm minimal color palette, Helvetica Neue in two weights, and a curated collection of macro guitar images to create a modern and friendly website.
By integrating a teaching platform (Sensei) along with a customized e-commerce solution (WooCommerce) I created a cohesive system that allows students to preview classes, purchase monthly website passes, and create a community of learners who can post questions to the teacher and discuss with other students- all within the same website.
This system also allows Thomas to bill users automatically on a monthly basis through recurring payments, track student progress, and manage student feedback from his WordPress backend.
Thomas also wanted to showcase the in-studio lesson side of his business, which paved the way for his online offering. We came up with three separate pricing plans and presented them on a page that showcases what is included and the savings behind each package presented in a side-by-side comparison. Short instructor bios to show who you'll be learning from, and parallax images are used on "call-to-action" areas to add dynamic movement to this page.
